Buck Henri & Max Henry were both imersed in the
arts starting at childhood with finger paints and play dough ! They graduated on to higher learning at the Kansas City
ART Institute . Here they flourished , but were urged to move on ...They all said that " you guys belong in New York
... You'll fit right in ! And so he did . He continued on with his studies at The Art Students League honing his drawing skills
in Barbara Adrians classes and was thrilled to find that one of his favourite models had modeled for Henri Matisse !
She lived in his neighborhood in the East Village and he would run into her on the subway. She carried a tattered N.Y. Times
article on her and her relationship with Matisse. She is easily recognizeable in many of his works. Big dark eyes and hair
and bright red lips. Buck also studied printmaking with Roberto Delmonico and Moy. He ended up being class monitor /
and having free run of the studio in the evening. He specialized in "Collographs" high relief mono prints.
Acutually running inked up clothing and objects through the press. Nurses uniforms and baby clothes made for great images.
